goodlookingturkeyI’ve been a fan of turkey cooked outdoors for several years now. If you’ve tried fried or outdoor roasted turkey, you know why. If you haven’t, it’s definitely worth trying.

Gettin’ Started
Once a regional delicacy confined to the South, turkey frying has fast become one of the most popular ways to prepare the main attraction of Thanksgiving. And why not? Frying a turkey can produce a cooked bird in minutes per pound and oh, the bird it produces! Until you’ve had it, you won’t believe how great a turkey can taste. Fried turkey is succulent, juicy, and mouth watering and the leftovers will make you think twice about buying deli slices for your sandwich ever again.

For all you need to get started, check out the outstanding and informative website run by the National Turkey Foundation. I’m not kidding, the website is really good. (more…)

As a parent, you know that making your children financially responsible is important, but it isn’t easy… especially if you weren’t born with the ‘money-gene’ yourself. Enter the LearningCents Bank.

Designed by two moms in Atlanta, the three compartment bank has space for money to Save, Spend and Give. The compartments are clear so kids can see their money grow which is a nice improvement on the ‘how much do I have in there’ problem inherent in the old-fashioned piggy bank. (more…)

TravelWithYourKids is written by parents, for parents. Just because you have a kid (or even a gaggle of them) that doesn’t mean that you and your family are obligated to stay home. We have tips for you whether you’re traveling near or far.”

This site is full of information and covers the entire lifecycle of a trip–Sections include Before You Go, On the Plane, Once You’re There and Going Home. The site also has a very nice tangential section that covers traveling to adopt. The information is really good and definitely written by parents who have been through it.

The On the Plane section, our favorite, ought to be required reading for traveling parents and airline/airport staff as well. The section covers everything from pre-boarding strategies, the window/aisle debate, diapers, motion sickness, ears popping and more. (more…)
