Skuut_Bike.jpgWhat: Skuut Wooden Balance Bike

Why: ”No pedals?” My three-year-old thought the bike was broken when he first saw it, but after sitting on it for a few minutes, he realized it wasn’t broken at all. He just put his feet down and started “skuuting” across the floor…with a huge smile plastered on his face. No pedals necessary.

It’s amazing to see how fast he’s learning how to steer and balance (without training wheels!), and these skills will make it easier for him to transition to a real bike. But that’s down the line. For now, he’s just having fun riding it around the block.

The assembly? I put it together in less than 10 minutes. And it’s much cuter than any picture you see on the site.

I love this product! We don’t have one yet, but I’ve been thinking about getting one for some time now.

Quite a while ago my son was watching a Sesame Street episode where Grover went to Sweden, I think, and they showed a little girl learning to ride a bike on one with no pedals. It said they don’t use training wheels there, and I thought then what a great idea it was.
