The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with A&A Global Industries today announced a voluntary recall of the about four million Children’s “Groovy Grabber” bracelets, according to the CPSC.
“The paint on the metallic band beneath the decorative cover contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.”
“The recalled bracelets are made of flexible metal bands wrapped in decorative plastic covers. The bracelets come in various colors and designs, including smiley faces, Chinese symbols, dogs, cats, aliens, checker boards, and flames.”
The bracelets were sold in vending machines located in malls, discount, department and grocery stores nationwide from November 2005 through March 2007 for 25 cents, according to the CPSC.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled bracelets away from children and discard them. For additional information, contact A&A Global Industries at (800) 638-6000 ext. 314 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.aaglobalind.com
