appreciate the performance he’s getting. You see unlike most parents, Henry’s mom, Leigh, is a ringer with a musical career that began professionally when she was just a teenager. Leigh Nash, who just released her first solo album Blue on Blue, was the lead vocalist for Sixpence None the Richer, the band behind the hugely popular singles Kiss Me and There She Goes.

What is a schedule and why do we need one? It is all about time management. In order to create a working schedule you need to come up with a list of priorities and then make sure where you designate your time so it is a reflection of your priorities. When Jennifer Ludt was pregnant with her daughter, Sophia, she received a burp cloth with a ribbon sewed onto it as a gift and thought, “I could do this so much better.” So she bought a second-hand embroidery machine from eBay and dug out an old sewing machine and Baby Sophia Gifts was born. “(At that time,) I had no idea how to even work the sewing machine!”
All of that has changed since the launch of the business two and a half years ago. Determined to create a high quality product that not only looked great, but would also stay around for as long as a child uses a bib, Jennifer chooses decorator weight fabric on almost all of her bibs. “Some of the canvas fabrics are even meant for outside use, which means they are very stain-resistant. Karen Asmundson’s lack of hockey knowledge provided the spark for a product line that Clever Parents thinks
will help a lot of parents and their sports-playing kids. Get Your Gear cards provide picture checklists for all the items needed for a particular sport so kids can see what they need (glove, bat, hat, water bottle, cleats) to bring. Explains Karen, “ My kids are in all kinds of sports (hockey, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, football) and I found myself constantly reminding them to get their cleats, skates, glove, etc. ready for practice… I knew other parents struggled with the same thing and wanted to create a product to help kids be more self-sufficient and parents less stressed. When my kids started playing hockey, I wished I had had a list of stuff they needed. I didn’t grow up with hockey and had no idea what was under those jerseys.” Read the rest »

Habitat for Humanity, the charity that builds homes for needy people, also runs stores in many states and Canadian Provinces that sell old home hardware, fixtures and accessories that have been donated from renovations and remodeling.
